Client Legal Support

When you need legal support who should you turn too ?

Data centres around the globe underpin the digital economy which consumers and business rely on every second of the day; be that for corporate IT services, digital media, financial services, mobile computing, social networking and or plain old internet access.

The data centre trade association recognises the very complex legal challenges this can create for both our members, data centre owners and the service provider community all of which require a very distinct blend of specialist legal advice and provides access to specialist legal support.

Ed Cooke is well known and respected by many of our members and is a recognised expert in critical IT infrastructure (data centres and fibre) and cloud with more than 15 years experience in the industry.  Ed has helped clients finance, procure and deliver complex IT projects, real estate developments and energy/telecoms infrastructure.  He also acts for data centre operators, negotiating co-location and related agreements with customers for demands ranging in size from a single rack to a whole data hall.  He has detailed knowledge of the regulations affecting the data centre sector.  Ed is based in London, although he frequently work on projects internationally.  He works on projects, large and small, the largest having a value of £12 bn (total project value).  He works for a range of clients in the data centre sector - from some of the largest operators in the world, to some of the sector’s new entrants.

Ed has been awarded a number of awards for his work with the data centre sector, including in the Legal 500, The Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom, and Global Law Experts.   His team has been shortlisted for a Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Award.  He is a partner at McCarthy Denning (https://mccarthydenning.com) and the founder of Conexus Law (https://conexuslaw.com), which is dedicated to providing legal advice and resources to the data centre sector.
