We are pleased to announce the launch of the new unit series FGAH 4060-4120 BG2 with 4 scroll compressors, heating capacities from 151-337 kW and cooling capacities from 142-312 kW. These units extend the capacity range of the existing series FGAH 2020-2081 AG1/2 which covers capacities from 53 kW by using 2 scroll compressors.

Air-source Heat Pumps with reversible refrigeration circuits are intended for space heating or cooling of commercial buildings like offices, shops or hotels. The operation mode is switched seasonally. The units are ideal to be combined with 2-pipe fan-coils in change-over execution. The energy is transferred via a water circuit.

Monovalent heating operation until -15 °C outdoor temperature is possible with both unit series so that additional heat sources are not required in most regions. By using one device for both, generating heating and cooling energy, considerable savings in investment costs are possible.

System temperatures up to 42 °C can be achieved at the lowest outdoor temperature in wintertime. The units deliver excellent energy efficiency values, SCOP up to 4.4 (eta,s 172 %). They easily fulfil the ErP requirements of the directive 813/2013 EU. “Super low noise” versions (SL-units) with noise reduction of 7-9 dB(A) are also available, ideal for installations in the vicinity of residential housing. They are available with EC fans meaning SCOPs can be up to 4.1. The “Highly efficient” versions (HE units) are equipped with electronic expansions valves (EEV) as standard. The HE-units with 4 compressors are equipped with EC-fans and shell and tube exchangers. All units are available with built-in pumps, built-in buffer tanks, BMS interfaces, refrigerant leak detectors and further accessories.

The choice of the alternative refrigerant R-454B is in line with the objectives of the F-Gas directive and is designed for applications with scroll compressors. The global warming potential (GWP) is only 466, compared to 2088 in case of the conventional refrigerant R-410A giving a significant reduction of 78 %. The refrigerant R-454B is the best choice for chillers and heat pumps with scroll compressors, as the GWP is even 30 % lower than the alternative R-32. Another advantage is R-454B’s wide operating limit in heating operation at the lowest outdoor temperature. 

Classified as A2L according to ISO 817 the refrigerant is slightly flammable. As the units are installed outdoors and the refrigeration circuit is not entering inside the building, only simple safety measures need to be considered. These include distance regulations to roof hatches or air intakes as well as extra safety valves.

  • Seasonal changeover heating/cooling via BMS or digital input
  • Cu/Al heat exchanger on the airside, optionally coated
  • Highly efficient units with Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV)
  • Super low noise units with EEV and EC fans
  • Cooling up to +46 °C outside temperature
  • Heating down to -15 °C outside temperature
  • Hot water temperature up to 42 °C at -15 °C outside temperature, or up to max. 52 °C at +2 °C
  • Built-in pumps & buffer tank as options

The following features distinguish the new FGAH 4060-4120 BG2 unit series 

  • 7 unit sizes with 4 compressors, 151-337 kW heating capacity
  • Seasonal changeover heating/cooling via BMS or digital input
  • Cu/Al heat exchanger on the airside, optionally coated
  • Highly efficient units with Electronic Expansion Valves (EEV), EC fans, Shell & Tube exchanger
  • Super low noise units and standard units with EEVs and EC fans as options
  • Cooling up to +46 °C outside temperature
  • Heating down to -15 °C outside temperature
  • Hot water temperature up to 42 °C at -15 °C outside temperature, or up to max. 55 °C at +7 °C
  • Built-in pumps with on/off or inverter control & buffer tank as options
