We want to transform the way data centre equipment is refreshed by developing a set of models and a tool that would allow in depth understanding of hardware refresh cycles, environmental impact of such practices, and business case analysis. The focus will be on driving the circular economy and the green environment agenda. We are seeking to appoint an ambitious Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) associate for this exciting role for a collaborative project between the University of East London and Techbuyer Ltd.

Techbuyer is a global leader in the buying, refurbishing and selling of data centre equipment. It is a global organisation with multiple warehouse facilities located worldwide. Techbuyer has decades of experience in buying used data centre equipment and selling new and refurbished IT parts, while working with thousands of private and public sector organisations across 83 countries worldwide. From four world-class facilities in key locations worldwide including the UK, Europe and the USA, Techbuyer stocks a huge global inventory of over 225,000 IT parts including big brands such as HP, Dell, Intel, IBM and Cisco.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work to deadlines, provide solutions to challenging requirements, and look forward to working with the state-of-the-art technologies that the project requires. You will have a good honours degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant areas (Post-graduate qualification, PhD in Computer Science or other relevant subject areas, or equivalent experience is desirable). You will have awareness of data centre related projects and software development experience. Having experience or understanding of agile product development; mathematical skills; and critical thinking skills will be an advantage. You will have good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders. You should be able to demonstrate experience of being able to plan and prioritise workload and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team.

You will work in this Innovate UK funded project on a two-year fixed-term contract. In addition to a competitive salary you will also have access to a £4,000 p.a. for training and development, an additional two week residential leadership and management course worth in excess of £10,000 and will be able to undertake the existing skill development training offered by the University of East London. There will also be opportunity to write research papers. There is the possibility of future long-term employment at Techbuyer following the completion of the KTP.
