CenturyLink cloud ranked no 1 in Europe for price performance value

CenturyLink cloud ranked no 1 in Europe for price performance value

CenturyLink Cloud® has been ranked No. 1 in Europe for price-performance value in the Cloud Performance and Value Comparison report by Cloud Spectator, an independent cloud benchmarking and consulting agency focused on Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) performance.

The study compared seven of the largest, most well-known public cloud services providers with data centres in Europe, using a comprehensive methodology designed by Cloud Spectator specifically for the purpose of measuring cloud environments. The report examined the performance of vCPU, memory and block storage, as well as the value – the CloudSpecs™ Score – defined by a ratio between price and performance. CenturyLink Cloud had the highest CloudSpecs™ Score and was recognised as offering the highest overall value to customers. This was due to a combination of strong VM and storage performance and competitive pricing.

The graph below shows CenturyLink’s high rank amongst the seven European public cloud services providers included in the report. Please refer to the complete 2017 Cloud Performance and Value Comparison for full details on testing methodology and ranking criteria.

“We are proud to be named the leading enterprise-focused IaaS provider for price-performance value in Europe,” said Matt Leonard, CenturyLink Product Director, EMEA. “Businesses are increasingly adopting multiple cloud services spanning diverse private and hyperscale public cloud environments but need to select the most efficient products for their workload requirements or risk overspending. CenturyLink provides an integrated portfolio of flexible public, private and hybrid solutions that maximise value in the cloud and enable organisations to succeed in a multi-cloud environment. Our Cloud Application Manager platform orchestrates the delivery of infrastructure, applications and services across any cloud including AWS, Azure and Google.”

“CenturyLink consistently scored highly across our metrics, achieving the highest CloudSpecs ScoreTM for overall price-performance value,” said Danny Gee, Senior Analyst at Cloud Spectator. “Performance is a critical and often overlooked component when making a cloud purchasing decision, but can have substantial impact on annual and ongoing operating costs. This report will assist a cloud purchasing decision by assessing cloud service providers and their price-performance value through a holistic, industry view.”

About the report

The “Cloud Performance and Value Comparison” report is adapted from the original “2017 Top 10 European Cloud Providers” benchmark. CenturyLink commissioned Cloud Spectator to create a modified report that includes larger, mass-market providers that they most directly compete with. As part of this project Cloud Spectator tested updated hardware, deployed in the CenturyLink® Managed Hosting facility in Reading.

In order to be ranked in the Cloud Spectator report, providers must have at least one European data centre and offer a self-service and sign-up portal, hourly billing intervals and block storage. Performance and pricing were tested and analysed across a number of categories.
