The second in a series of “DataCentre Leadership Webinars” hosted by DataCentres Ireland, will take place on 13 August 2020, and addresses the impact of Data Centres on the Energy Sector, whether that be on Grid Capacity, Data Centre Clusters, Move to Renewable Energy, Efficiency, etc…
The success of Ireland in attracting Data Centres, coupled with the size of the country means Ireland’s Energy sector is having to develop to meet the challenges faster than many other countries, particularly in regard to Data Centres and other large energy users.

As of Q1 2020, there are sixty data centres of various sizes currently operating in Ireland, with twelve already under construction and a further twenty-six data centres in the pipeline with approved planning permission.
Power usage by operating Datacentres accounts for circa 700MW is expected to rise to 1700MW by 2025.
